Perscription: a bucket of kittens

I got this information from CNN:
"New research shows that in a social network, happiness spreads among people up to three degrees removed from one another. That means when you feel happy, a friend of a friend of a friend has a slightly higher likelihood of feeling happy too."

I read this as pertaining more than just to social networks; so I definitely see this as a reason to keep pushing the Rose Happiness Project! Because it's not just for my sanity, but for others as well.

Beam me in, Wolf

Also crossposted in La Vie de Rose: a List of Broken Things.
Here's a few signs of change that make me smile:

A comment from the HA website:
"....we truly are the America we are supposed to be. not the scary
fearmongering hating and overwhelmingly irony that has been since christians
and the right decided that they and their exclusivity represented America
better. Time will heal these tainted and misguided hearts. Free at last,
free at last, i'm a deep south white redneck and even I AM FREE AT
LAST!!!!!"

Also, on the cover of The News Journal in Delaware (as seen above) "Biden achieves highest office for a Delawarean." :D

Lady pilot story

An obit came across our desk Wednesday. Edna Bishop, a lady pilot of WWII. We found her inspiring and asked the editor for permission to write a story on her. We got in touch with the lady's husband and got information from him. He seemed touched that we even cared.
The story ran in the next day's paper. Later on that day, we received this:

Date: Thu, 9 Oct 2008 15:37:56 -0400
To: "Pendleton, Rose"

Dear Rose: We can't tell you how much we appreciate the article you developed and wrote concerning our wife and mother. She would have enjoyed it, I'm sure.
Thank you for your work in developing the facts from the meager bit of information I supplied. It is a great story.
Sincerely, Jim Bishop

We almost started crying at our desk. :)

When you've got to sneeze.....

Kittens are meds for the soul: part deux

Dear Me,
Here are some big, recent signs that we are a good person:

- We saved that kitten's life. Granted, we can't say 'no' to kittens, but if we had, she would have died from her illness. (we could have said 'no, we don't have room.')
- We kept Murmur (the kitten) despite the fact that we knew she would have to go to the vet and we would have to spend mega-bucks. (we could have said 'no, we don't have the money')
- Murmur loves us unconditionally. She knows we rescued her, and she loves us so much for that. This is the most affectionate kitten we have ever seen, and we deserve it.
- We have enhanced Leon's life, because now he'll have a friend to play with and to keep him company when everyone is at work/school.

We are a good person.

Love,
Me :)

Note: that's Leon in the picture.

Goooooooooooooooooaaaalllllll! or just goals

My three main goals of current and how to achieve them:

- get better at French
study more, stay on top of my online classes, possibly sign up for classes at a community college, find someone to talk French with (either a tutor or someone else that's learning)

- lose weight
continue to take my meds (as they seem to be working - to explain why I have to take meds, read my other blog or look up PCOS), walk more, exercise more

- be happier
look on the positive side of things, enjoy things more, not worry so much, let go of things

For those wondering, the picture above was done by Agent 57 at DeviantArt.

Introductions are in order.... again

The unveiling of the main part of the Rose Happiness Project rests in this blog.
To explain, the Rose Happiness Project is a pet project that's been given internet wings.
My therapist (all sane people see therapists) gave me 'homework.'
This 'homework' consists of listing:
- affirmations
- achievements
- positive attributes
- things I'm thankful for
- things I've done to work toward my goals
- thoughts throughout the day/week and are they good or bad/ helpful or not?

The last of these I'm probably just going to just leave to posting up in my regular blog.
I've also added to this list:
- pictures and things that make me smile.

Why am I doing this?
An innovative way to make me smile. Somewhere that I can dump things that make me feel good, so that I can look back at them when I'm feeling less than confident, less than happy, less than myself.

So, here's the first - a picture that makes me smile.
